Urban Heat Island Mitigation through Planned Simulation

چکیده

The urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon is caused by the anthropic alteration of natural environment expansion, its impermeable surfaces, and activities. In addition, morphology can also contribute to increase in temperature cities. UHI effect be described as an climate that generally characterized higher temperatures densely built-up areas compared surrounding areas. This impacts environmental stress city directly affects health quality life inhabitants. Therefore, it necessary allocate resources understand mechanism cities order propose appropriate mitigation measures will reduce energy consumption improve living conditions. this context, research was aimed at analyzing behavior islands replacing asphalt with cool paving materials (concrete) roadways. Through computer simulations, using ENVI-met software, thermal variations were examined. Cuenca (Ecuador) selected study area. day analysis 22 January 2020, which recorded warmest year, registering average 16 °C. findings evidenced that, pavements concrete analyzed zones, land surface (LST) could reduced 8 °C global LST studied approximately 3 Consequently, mean air reflected a decrease up 0.83

The urban heat island Mitigation Impact Screening Tool (MIST)

A web-based screening tool has been developed to assist urban planners and air quality management officials in assessing the potential of urban heat island mitigation strategies to affect the urban climate, ozone air quality, and energy consumption within their cities. The user of the screening tool can select from any of over 200 US cities for which to conduct the analysis. The mitigation stra...
